The works of “Tolerance” series are the works that the craftsman devoted a lot of efforts to. The work is named after the challenge to include clays with different fusion points in the same work and the successful rate is very low. “Catholicity is to achieve the clay on the upper shelf melt and flow and perfectly shaped with the clay on the bottom shelf to create the effect of convergence before producing a unique work. The crack is usually on the joint point. Moreover, it usually requires the touch from our heart to motivate the eagerness of creation during the creation process before carrying out experiment and adjustment. However, the different expansion coefficients of the two kinds of clay are usually fine when the temperature is high but tend to cause crack and collapse during the cooling process. The feature on this piece of work is to present the blending between firmness and flexibility. “Firmness” refers to the appearance of the pottery or the toughness and stability of the physical property on the material while “flexibility” refers to the status of glaze (low-temperature glaze” in the high temperature and how it flows down due to gravity. The precondition of the successful work is the clear understanding and control ability towards “glaze”. The craftsman must have solid professional understanding towards “glaze” to operate its flow range, flow speed and its degree in “out of track”. The highest achievement is to control the proper temperature range and complete the perfect work with the predict movement under melted status and the different flow speeds on vertical and slop planes. As far as the work “Tolerance 49” is concerned, for the plane, it is unobvious due to gravity, but the mesh points seem to be static while it has extraordinary swinging on the ridge slope ,pouring like waterfall in the vertical surface.
