Born in Caotun, Nantou, Mr. Jung-Lieh Li entered the Nantou Handicraft Seminar in 1945 to learn bamboo weaving. In 1964, he was sent to the Malagasy Republic as a technician for the Bamboo Work Team. After returning to Taiwan, he served in the Nantou Handicraft Research Institute. He started to learn lacquer art from lacquer artist Mr. Huo-Ching Chen and began incorporating different materials.
Since 1989, Mr. Li's bamboo art works have won many awards and are well-known in Taiwan. After retirement, he served the society by teaching and inheriting the craftsmanship in many places."
