“Our needs are few, our wants many.”

Kate Fletcher, a European fashion consultant, proposed the idea of “slow fashion” in 2007 by reference to the “slow food” theory, alerting the public to the real costs and environmental damages incurred by fast fashion. Transcending the rigid confines of commercial considerations and highlighting the harmony between nature and humanity, this idea advocates sustainable fashion which is labor- and environment-friendly apart from aesthetically pleasing, hence a three-way win for designers, manufacturers and consumers.

With “Slow Fashion” as the underlying theme, the exhibit brings together 50 fiber craft pieces from Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, and last but not least Taiwan.

“Fashion is an attitude about life, a form of artistic and creative expression.” Slow fashion has become an unstoppable trend in the contemporary society.
