The Great Wind Blows
Bamboo Weaving
Tseng Feng-Chu
General floral vases and containers present only static beauty while this work is characterized by a bold attempt to create the idea of a breakthrough, directly it renders dynamic effect. Body of the work adopts plain vase shape, with flowers made of bamboo sheath scattered and embedded in the inner body of the empty basket; wherein, each flower can rotate when there is a little airflow. The work presents dynamic joy by means of “wind”; recalling the game “musical chairs” played in childhood. While an order comes in a sudden, the static moment shifts to a dynamic caper; Perhaps, in order to capture some of the lost childlike pleasure as well, the work adopts the name of the game – musical chairs (referred to as “The Great Wind Blows” in Chinese). At the moment in scorching summer, the breeze is blowing, flowers rise and fall, shaking slightly in many carriages, it always sends people a feel of coldness and pulsating sensation, like women’s “floral-inspired jewelry” inserted in the hair, blossoming into a beautiful dream.
