工藝之美—創造生活的幸福之源


工藝在生活中無所不在,並以其實用和美感滋養著我們的生活,日本民藝之父柳宗悅認為,人是客居在世上的旅人,工藝則繽紛了世界,是神所賜予世人的禮物:「唯有守護工藝之美,旅人才能心懷溫情地在這世間旅行。如此受到工藝滋養,你能說這不是一個幸運的世界嗎?」-《工藝之道:日本百年生活美學之濫觴》


    手作陶瓷食器,豐富了餐桌風景和飲食滋味;一張木桌,隨著歲月的使用而愈加光滑的質地與紋理;脖子上的圍巾,織紋設計和染色,增色穿搭品味…這些看似平凡的物件,融合了美感與功能性,悄然為人們帶來使用的便利及心靈療癒,工藝為生活帶來的幸福,就是這麼親切、確實、溫暖。

    「藝啟十方-工藝地圖上的繁星」第二檔展覽以「幸福之源」為題,呼應柳宗悅對工藝「用即美」的闡釋;以及臺灣工藝之父顏水龍「工藝的本質需兼具實用與美觀」之理念,於本展覽中探討工藝「用」與「美」的一體兩面,以及工藝家如何透過材質與技藝,將美感融入生活,使工藝從純粹的實用功能昇華為生活的藝術,從而豐富人們的生活體驗。

    「當工藝在生活中被賦予用途,其美才得以真正實現」。工藝之美,不僅來自技巧與形式的精湛,更來自手工製作背後蘊含的時間、心意與文化記憶,從木雕工藝家刀鋒下浮現的雕刻細節,到玻璃吹製過程中,玻璃工藝家與火焰共舞的瞬間,每一道工序都蘊藏著工藝創作者的專注與敬意,正是這些用心所賦予的溫度,讓工藝超越功能本身,成為情感與文化的載體,這是現代機械量產所無法取代的生活之美。

   物與人的情感連結,來自每一次的使用與被使用,人因使用工藝滿足審美追求及實用體驗,物則因被使用的服務性而更彰顯其美感,這就是工藝與人之間的羈絆。讓我們透過展覽,感受工藝與生活之間的深刻連結,體驗工藝在使用上帶來的美感與舒適,並在這些日常細節之中,尋找到屬於自己的幸福之源。


The Beauty of Craftsmanship—Creating Wellsprings of Happiness in Life


Craftsmanship permeates our daily lives, nourishing us through both utility and beauty. Yanagi Soetsu, father of the Japanese Folk Craft Movement, believed that humans are but travelers sojourning in this world, while crafts bring color to our journey — gifts bestowed by the divine:"Only by preserving the beauty of craft can travelers move through this world with warmth in their hearts. Nurtured by craftsmanship in this way, could one not call this a fortunate world?" —From "The Way of Craft:Origins of Japan's Century-Old Living Aesthetics"


Handcrafted ceramic tableware enriches both our dining table scenery and our culinary experience. A wooden table's texture and grain grow increasingly smooth and refined with years of use. A scarf around one's neck, with its woven patterns and dyes, elevates personal style... These seemingly ordinary objects, merging aesthetics with functionality, quietly bring both practical convenience and spiritual healing. The happiness craftsmanship brings to life is this intimate, tangible, and warm.

The second exhibition in the "Art Illuminates All Directions—Stars on the Craft Map" series takes "Wellsprings of Happiness" as its theme, echoing Yanagi Soetsu's interpretation of craft as "beauty through use" and Taiwan's father of craftsmanship Yen Shui-long's philosophy that "the essence of craft must combine practicality with beauty." This exhibition explores the dual nature of craft's utility and beauty, and how artisans infuse aesthetics into daily life through materials and techniques, elevating crafts from pure functionality to living art, thereby enriching human experience.

"When craft is given purpose in daily life, its beauty truly comes to fruition." The beauty of craftsmanship stems not only from technical and formal excellence, but from the time, intention, and cultural memory contained within handmade creation—from the carved details emerging under a woodcarver's blade to the moment when a glass artist dances with flame during the blowing process. Each step embodies the craftsperson's focus and reverence. It is precisely this invested warmth that allows craft to transcend mere function and become a vessel for emotion and culture—a living beauty that modern mechanical mass production cannot replace.

The emotional connection between objects and people arises from each instance of using and being used. People satisfy their aesthetic pursuits and practical needs through crafts, while objects reveal their beauty more fully through their service. This is the bond between craftsmanship and humanity. Through this exhibition, let us feel the profound connection between craft and daily life, experience the aesthetic pleasure and comfort crafts bring through use, and within these everyday details, discover our own personal wellsprings of happiness.
