Taiwan sees its pottery-making history as diverse and fruitful, mainly because of influences coming from aborigines, Chinese immigrants and previous colonial rule of Netherlands and the Japanese governance.
Nowadays, there are many potters in Taiwan, mainly on making daily utensils. Those making pottery purely for the art sake are easily outnumbered. However, many pottery artists coming from Taiwan thrive in world competitions, and Tsung-Ju LI is one among many.
