Stone has been widely used as acraft material since long ago; with the development of materials, technology,politico-economic circumstances and cultural policy, the environment for stonecreative works has become mature and it is also a tendency that the artistic,living and social issues have been incorporated into the creative process ofworks.
For a long time, National TaiwanCraft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) has been dedicating itself tothe development and promotion for the craft culture and industry in search ofthe new possibility for traditional craft; the ultimate goal is to reshape theface of the craft culture in Taiwan. The three units of this exhibition areArtistic Environment, Social Environment and Material Environment whichincorporate artistic creation, public art and the application of stone intodaily context so as to bring out the energy and aesthetic connotation ofTaiwan’s contemporary stone sculpture and its diversity in application withinthe social context.
