The earliest historical evidence of metalworking is of cloisonné and cast pieces. At present , NTCRI efforts focus on the technical development of metalworkers, with classes also being held, by popular demand, for jewelrymaking, creating a cadre of silversmiths and goldsmiths.
Courses on handmade jewelry production and the use of related tools, wax casting, inlay, etching and related tool use, and approaches to design. Over the years, many metalworkers have been trained through such classes, and the work they have since produced in silver- and goldsmithing has done Taiwan proud.
