Research and Development
 
Product research and experiment are focused on the following field:
Bamboo and Rattan Craft, Wooden ware, Woodcarving, Metal Craft, Stone Products, Ceramics, Weaving, Knitting, Dyeing, Silk-screen, Furniture and Finishing.
Improvement of processing methods and introduction of new skills and facilities, increasing of productivity and raising the level of products quality.
Studies of the various craft materials, development of new products and the improvement of old products so as to increase their additional values.
Application of the traditional Chinese craft skills so as to develop products with unique national characteristics and styles.
Development of products designs in harmony with various living environments.

Accepting manufacturers' commissions to make experiments. Studies of product quality experimental method so as to upgrade its quality and improve techniques.

   
Promotion and Service
 
Sponsoring special training courses on technical research in order to cultivate handicraft experts and skilled workers.
Invitation of domestic and foreign experts to participate in special training programs.
Sponsoring design contest to encourage excellent handicraft designing.
Publication of periodicals for the introduction of new knowledge; new skills and excellent products; marketing information and for the exchange of professional knowledge.
Providing direction and guidance in the design and improvement of local products; offering research information and services of experimental equipment.

Sponsoring exhibit of excellent handicraft products; domestic and foreign circuit exhibits; helping the manufacturers to extend the market.

  Important Promotion Activities
Since the establishment of the institute, we have been faithful to the mission of transmitting and innovating Taiwan crafts.We are devoted to the enhancement of Taiwan's crafts.There are four important tasks to undertake, including research, development, promotion, and serving. We promote the institute's research development results through print, videos, and other means. Meanwhile, we also accomplish other important missions commissioned by the supervisors. The most important promotion activities for the last two years are as follows:

  2. "Clay Kneading and Life Reviving", the campaigns and exhibitions of ceramic designs to soothe those who suffered from 921 Earthquake.
